When I was five my mother sailed with me and my sister from Liverpool and moved to Nigeria where my father was waiting for the start of the family life that would be lived overseas. Further postings for my family were in Ethiopia, Cyprus and Kuwait; quite a mixture and I failed to learn the languages, of course!

Leaving school at 17, I managed to have been employed continuously. I started at Barclays Bank International, then Gerrard and National Discount House, S G Warburgs, Chemical Bank Trustee, Harrods and some potential army officer training at the Guard’s Depot in Pirbright.
I was fortunate to embark after Pirbright to a real banking career overseas at Arab Banking Corporation in Bahrain, then Bank of Bermuda, based in Guernsey, Bahrain and Dubai till 2008.
Retirement was a challenge as although I was so lucky not to have worked hard (without qualifications it must be said) and with that background I took up painting, wood turning, etching, motorcycling and generally tried to keep busy!

Thank you for reading and posting your comments, I do very much appreciate them, they are all good and helpful.
